Description
Part 1: Select one of the innovations in food processing outlined in the table in handout 3.1 and brainstorm one hypothetical and one real example of that innovation. Share these examples, whether you think they represent positive or negative examples of innovation, and your reasoning for coming to your conclusions with the class through the classroom discussion board thread created for this assignment. Part 2: The class will be divided into two groups – one in support of, and the other against, industrial agriculture – with a discussion thread created for each group. Using the discussion board set up for your position, identify which stakeholders you might represent in society and outline the main arguments in favour of your reasoning. Review the discussion board set up for the alternate position and push the group to defend their arguments by asking questions and sharing counter-points. Part 3: Conduct research and post to your blog an approximately 250 word explanation of one real life example of one of the factors that influence agricultural innovation. What happened? What was the impact?
